Writing is a liberating exercise and generally leaves one’s head clearer at the end of the process. Keeping a collection of writings public and making your process of learning available to colleagues, peers, friends and family is a good thing.
Somewhere along the way I simply lost site of why I write but over the last month it has become more clear. The publishing of my thoughts on paper prototyping brought tons of feedback from various people in my social network. Amazing feedback really… my thoughts on using paper as part of the design process are so much clearer now than they were three months ago when I started writing that article.
Blogging has been faulted for so many things and it is easy to get swept up in the anti-* crowd for a popular trend. The fact remains that blogging is one of the most immediate forms of publishing thoughts and gather feedback on them in the world today. One thing I find amazing about weblog “comments” is that I often get the best ones outside of the website - via email, chat, or even over the dinner table.
Summing up, I’m going to be writing more. I thought switching my site architecture around into a wiki structure would promote that, but it failed royally. There was no podium to step up to really and changes were easily lost amongst so many sub-domains and directories. So here’s to a little more transparency in my work.
